Working With Troubled Youth – How to Get Teens to Trust You

In working with young people over the course of ten years I’ve come to realize that youth wants somebody to help them make their dreams a reality. Think about it for a second, you are a teenager and no money but want everything you see.

Students don’t have a realistic picture of what it takes to attain all that they want. Sure their parents can buy them cell phones and mp3 players but at what point do parents stop purchasing gadgets for them and help them with their dreams.

If a student has a dream of becoming a doctor or a policeman, then it’s vital to that student for adults to point them in the right directions. Most youth need one or two people in their lives to give them the counsel they need to make the right decisions. When a student does not have a mentor and is forced to make their decisions, they often make mistakes or run into walls, so to speak.

Adults are not the only answer but it helps when a teen has a person older than they are who has walked a solid path and can motivate that student toward success. Students are like arrows, they need to be pointed at the right target. An adult can be the stepping stone in a person’s life so they can be encouraged to live right.

Students who get in trouble and drop out of school are those that lack the support of parents and adults. If you are an adult, find a student that you can invest in and help them live out their dreams.

Hispanic youth will benefit by listening to a school bullying speaker who has completed high school, college and graduate school, even if they were bullied in middle school.

Also, if you are reading this know that a professional youth speaker is the key to encouraging young people to stay focused and to be the best student they can be.
