It’s not a secret that the Hispanic population is increasing and there is a need for more bilingual and ESL teachers. Hispanic youth today are growing up without the right kind of role models in their lives and they often get caught up in activities that hurt them and do not advance them as a people group.
Hispanic youth today just like any ethnic group need leaders in their lives to point them in the right direction. They need to be able to know that goals are attainable so they can start working towards good. Many youth in the Hispanic culture look up to their older brothers and cousins and turn to them for support. Often, the support is not present.
To do good in school is considered a weakness to some and getting in trouble is what is considered acceptable. Especially with males, there is a sense of acceptance when it comes to getting in trouble. This gets out of hand when one tries to do the worst thing that they can do to get in trouble and look cool. See when Hispanic students are not pushed to do good and school and do not feel smart, they act out.
If you know of a Hispanic student who continues to get in trouble in school, more than likely they are acting out their anger or they simply feel like school is worthless. For most they have not seen education as a tool and how an educated person is supposed to act. In other words, there are Hispanic youth that have not learned how to be a student yet.
Hispanic youth will benefit by listening to a youth motivational speaker who has completed high school, college and graduate school.
